Willamette HDL Develops Course for Designers Using Synopsys' New Cocentric System Studio

Four-Day SystemC Course Uses A Mix of Lectures, Hands-On Lab Exercises

BEAVERTON, OR, February 11, 2002 -- Willamette HDL, Inc., a leading language-based design consulting and training firm, today announced it has developed SystemC training for designers using Synopsys’ new SystemC simulator in CoCentric® System Studio. This announcement coincides with Synopsys’ release of CoCentric System Studio today.

The four-day "Modeling with SystemC and CoCentric System Studio" course, taught by Willamette HDL instructors, is an enhanced version of the Willamette HDL course on using SystemC, the standard system-level design and verification language that spans from concept to implementation in hardware and software. Willamette HDL developed the course with help from Synopsys. Offering a mix of lectures and hands-on lab exercises, the class teaches designers to write SystemC models by introducing students to the library of classes that provide modeling constructs for describing systems and hardware.

"Willamette HDL is a valuable training partner and has developed an informative course for designers wanting to more effectively leverage SystemC," said Johannes Stahl, director of marketing and applications for System Level Design at Synopsys. "Early users of our SystemC simulator gave high praise for Willamette HDL and this SystemC course."

"The SystemC design community will benefit from the availability of the new simulator from Synopsys," notes Mike Baird, president of Willamette HDL. "We’re pleased to teach SystemC design methodologies using CoCentric System Studio. Early feedback from our students has been positive. They believe that its robust feature set will help them to accelerate the design process."
